THE MASTER AND MARGARITA
Mikhail Bulgakov
THE DEVIL INVITES YOU TOO A BLACK MAGICK SHOW
The master and Margarita is by far one of my favourite pieces of the TST library book list, it's humour is beyond hilarious, making me laugh out loud at several points in the book, the insightful nature of it's depiction of the Soviet union is humbling and the philosophical nature of this piece is just fantastic. It's surprising the book was banned during the authors lifetime and published only after the authors death, he never saw the success of this masterpiece, though I'd like to think he knew he created a masterpiece. I recommend actually listening to this piece and listen to this version on scribd:
David Catlin and the cast do a tremendous job of bringing the book to life. If you don't have access to this then here's a youtube version of the piece.
A good read writer once wrote "It is a story of Woland, the Satan, coming to Moscow with his retinue and wrecking absolute havoc over three long and oppressively hot summer days. It is a story of Pontius Pilate (the equestrian, the son of the astrologist-king, the last fifth Procurator of Judea) who has achieved the dreaded immortality due to a single action (or rather INaction) and wishes nothing more than for it to not have happened. It is a story of love between two very lonely people. It is a scaldingly witty story about the oppressive nature of early Stalin days and the rampant Soviet bureaucracy. It is a phantasmagorical story of the supernatural and the mythical. It has elements of humorous realism, romanticism, and mysticism. It is all of the above and much more" The commenter also highlights this passage which I think is absolutely beautiful ... continued) "What would your good be doing if there were no evil, and what would the earth look like if shadows disappeared from it? After all, shadows are cast by objects and people. There is the shadow of my sword. But there are also shadows of trees and living creatures. Would you like to denude the earth of all the trees and all the living beings in order to satisfy your fantasy of rejoicing in the naked light? You are a fool." And who doesn't love a cat that can do all this...
THE LITTLE BOOK OF SATANISM
La Carmina
I found this book a brilliant little read but also well researched and well thought out, the title literally covers the contents of the book, an introduction to Satanic topics including a basic history, basic philosophy and main equations to the Satanism of modern day we're all a part of. Each subtitles within the chapters can be researched extensively however the basic outlines of each of these subjects are outlined with a simple yet effective way of writing by La Carmina, who's a credited academic, media business savvy entrepreneur and fantastic communicator. On the basis of simplicity, I know here at The Father of Harlots/BAFOSatan we're made up of all different backgrounds which comes with language barriers, this book is an easily digestible style of writing so just know you're getting good information at a minimum word count unlike some of the colossal huge books on satanism that are out there! La Carmina has also made the announcement that the book will be translated and ready to buy in Spanish!
The great thing about this book is I've found a lot of people were yearning for more information about Satanism but are disheartened when they stumble across a load of books which are just mumbo-jumbo, this book gives you a good direction for looking into the topics of satanism that are 'safe' and what we look to as inspiration within The Satanic Temples guide of- where, what, who, why, when and how about satanism. Some of the information included in the book as stated on amazon is:
A foreword from Lucien Greaves, activist, spokesperson, and cofounder of The Satanic Temple
Information on Satan’s biblical origins, and his various names, appearances, and symbols
Details on his age-old role as a scapegoat, from medieval witch trials to the 1980s Satanic Panic
An overview of modern philosophy and practices, focusing on The Church of Satan, The Satanic Bible, and The Satanic Temple
Examples of the Devil’s influence on art, literature, music, and films—from Paradise Lost to Rosemary’s Baby
Hail La Carmina, who gave me a lovely shout out when I mentioned her book on my instagram, I felt honoured, I really did and I can't recommend this book enough, though I've done extensive research on satanism for years. I still learnt some key facts in this book so don't by pass or under-estimate it.
Hail you all!
FYI: I was over joyed to find out both me and La carmina have graced the cover of Vanity magazine, pictures below! Love it! Lol!
Thank you reading my first book reviews, i've got some really exciting announcements coming for halloween with my group BAFOSatan (British Associated Fellowship of Satan) so find us on facebook to follow the group at https://www.facebook.com/bafosatan/
